How To Link NIN And BVN To Opay Account: One of the leading fintech companies in Nigeria Opay, recently announced that customer accounts not linked to the owner’s National Identification Number (NIN) or Bank Verification Number (BVN) will be logged out and blocked as from March 1, 2024.
The announcement was made by the Company’s Director of Partnership Mr. Ikponmwosa Odiase on Wednesday 24th of January 2024 in an interaction session.
The reason for the announcement was to follow the directive issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), directing all banks to place a “post no debit” restriction on all bank accounts without a BVN or NIN linked to it effective from April 1, 2024.
The meaning of the “post no debit” restriction is that you won’t have the privilege or access to withdraw, transfer, or perform any other debit function with your account.
The only option is Linking your Opay account to either a National identification number (NIN) or a Bank verification number (BVN).
According to Wikipedia, a National identification number (NIN) is been used to keep track of its citizens.

Recall that Opay has 3 tiers of account, Tier One (1), Tier Two (2), and Tier Three (3).
According to our research, the only tier of account affected by this directive is the Tier One (1) account.
The reason is that a Tier One (1) account is the only account you can open without your NIN or BVN.
However, you can open a Tier One (1) account and upgrade to Tier 2 or Tier 3 if you wish to.
The Tier 2 and Tier 3 accounts require the NIN or BVN information before opening or upgrading.
In this article, I will be explaining the steps on how you can easily link your NIN and BVN to your Opay bank account using the bank app, and how you can know if your Opay Bank account has been linked successfully or previously.
